JOHN (JACK) ERNEST FARLEY July 8, 1932 - March 21, 2017 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Jack Farley, on March 21, 2017, at Heritage Lodge, with family at his side. Jack is survived by daughters, Donna (Darryl) Rudge and Pat (Ross) McBey, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris, Evan and Dylan) Friesen, David (Kate, Ethan and Conor) Rudge, Kristy (Tom, Brayden, Liam, Peyton and Jack) McFee, Steven (Janie) McBey, and Tristan McBey (Erica and Ryan). He also leaves to mourn his passing his siblings Mame McLaren, Gord (Pat) Farley, and in-laws Les Slingsby, Bob Berryere, Fred Daley, Jim Berryere, Judy (Eric) Strom and Sylvia Berryere, as well as many nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his wife, Mina in 2016, his parents, Jack Sr. and Sylvia Farley, sisters Thelma Wade, Edna Barnes and Kathleen Slingsby, in-laws, Robert McLaren, Alan Wade, Edward Berryere, Jean Daley, Arlene Berryere, Guy Gauthier, and great-granddaughter, Christine Ann Friesen. Jack was born and raised in the Weston area of Winnipeg. He met Mina on his visits to his aunt, who lived in Melville, SK. Jack and Mina were married on October 13, 1951 and lived most of their married life in Winnipeg, retiring to their cottage at Barrier Bay, then moving to Beausejour and back to Winnipeg. Jack worked for 30 years with International Harvester, first at the Wall Street location and then in Transcona. He was fortunate to enjoy a long and mostly healthy retirement and delighted in telling the story about how he was retired for longer than he worked. Jack and Mina loved to go on long road trips and spent many winters in Brownsville, TX enjoying the snowbird experience during their retirement. When they could no longer travel to Texas, Jack took up woodworking in a serious way, leaving many of us with treasures that he built including clocks, jewelry boxes, wishing wells, bird houses, shelves and wooden toys. Jack selflessly cared for Mina for many years after she was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's and on respite days, he could be found enjoying lunch with whoever was able to meet him at Tim's. He was completely lost when Mom passed away last year and spoke about her every day. We know that they are dancing together again. We would like to send a special "Thank You" to the staff at Heritage Lodge where both Mom and Dad spent their last days. Your kindness, compassion and patience knew no boundary. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2, or to a charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I just came upon Jack's obit today. We had kept in touch by e-mail, but that had not happened for quite a while. My sincere condolences to all the family. We first met Jack & Mina when my husband sold him ash lumbar when he was making beautiful wood pieces. We are in possession of some lovely jewelery boxes & other things. My Mother's ashes are resting in one of his handiworks. He was so devoted to Mina in taking care of her. He was also so very proud of his family. Rest in peace Jack, with your beloved Mina. • I am going to miss our Skype "chats", We always had "the International tractor" conversations, but he wouldn't torment me due to the fact that we had a "Case" tractor on the farm! I was so grateful that he was so kind and caring for my cousin Mina. Jack, I'm sure God will be pleased to have you in his Kingdom, along with Mina and other family members. Our love and prayers to the family. Gay & Bill Miller - Posted by: Bill Miller (Cousin (by marriage)) on: Mar 31, 2017

  • Now there was a man that I admired as long as I knew him. And that has been a very long time. They do not make many of those, anymore. Yes! He got old, but he hung in there. And did the impossible. He always had time for everybody. I think the Good Lord has been waiting for this angel for a while. He is even going to make a difference in that Kingdom. All the Best Jack. We are going to miss you. And condolences to the whole family. Ron & Ruth Daunheimer - Posted by: Ron Daunheimer (Relative) on: Mar 26, 2017
