LARRY ELSWOOD HUGHSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Larry (Woody) Hughson, peacefully at Stonewall Hospital, March 20, 2017, at the age of 55, following a battle with cancer. He is survived by his parents Craig and Ret Hughson; brother Kenneth; children, Jennifer (Mark), Jay (Brittany), Max (Holly); grandchildren, Samantha, Olivia, Rachel and Reginald and nephews Adam and Mark. Woody spent his first 12 years on a farm near Pilot Mound, before moving with his family to Eriksdale in 1973. After completing grade 12 and one year of university, he spent time working in Alberta, before purchasing the family home on the farm and moving it to Stonewall, where he and Karen Kelner lived together for eleven years. He started a business named "Hughson Heating Cooling" which he operated until his illness forced him to stop. Woody was always involved in sports, including hockey, bowling, baseball, curling, basketball and swimming. The family would like to thank Dr. Zahiri and the staff of Stonewall Hospital for their care and compassion. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, March 31, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the Stonewall Legion in Stonewall MB. Please bring all your memories and stories of Woody and be prepared to share them. In lieu of flowers, donations to Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. MacKenzie Funeral Chapel Stonewall 204-467-2525 info@mackenziefh.com

  • My condolences to both family and close friends of Woody. He was quite a comical guy as I recall when he returned to high school to obtain a science class credit with us in 83/84. Although there was a 5 yr difference in age between him and the rest of the class, he fit right in. He was always happy and was our Master of Ceremonies at grad that year. - Posted by: Charlene Kaartinen (classmate) on: Mar 27, 2017

  • What great fun we had as kids growing up in Eriksdale. Woody was a great guy and had this awesome sense of humor. Although we lost touch after graduation I thought of him often remembering the good times. God speed Woody. My deepest sympathies to Craig, Ret, Ken and to Karen, Woody's children and grandchildren. - Posted by: Leslie Lundale (Friend) on: Mar 26, 2017
