EVELYN McKAY (nee CROZIER) Following recent medical challenges, Evelyn passed away at home on March 19, 2017. Evelyn is lovingly remembered by her children, Ken, Brenda McGowan (Colin) and David (Suzanne); and her two grand-daughters, Stephanie and Jessica McGowan. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; her parents, William James and Margaret Crozier; and her two sisters, Edna Krueger and Lil Jenner. Evelyn was born on April 22, 1930, in Lloydminster, SK, where much of her childhood was spent on the family farm. Her family eventually moved to Edmonton, where she met and later married Gordon. Gord's career in the Canadian Armed Forces led to a life of postings in different parts of Canada and in Germany. Following retirement, Gord and Evelyn pursued their love of travel, having bought a truck and 5th-wheel trailer. Their travels took them from the south-western United States all the way up to the Yukon, where Gord had spent much of his boyhood. Following Gord's passing in 1995, Evelyn spent a lot of time travelling all around North America with her many friends in the O.E.S. She also ventured forth recently on a grand cruise from Montreal to San Diego via the Panama Canal with her daughter, Brenda. The family wishes to thank the many friends who have lent their kind support, and especially those whose friendship meant so much to Mom these past couple decades. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. An informal gathering of family and friends to share memories will take place on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
