WALTER SKRUPSKI Early in the morning of March 25, 2017, our dear Walter Skrupski passed away in Selkirk, MB at the age of 87 years. He will always be remembered by his loving wife of almost 67 years, Adeline, and his devoted children, Reg (Anna), Barb, and Gerry (Melody). He is also survived by his brother Edward Skrupski, sister Lorna Hyde, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Nick Skrupski, mother Maria Gola (nee Klevanicz), and brothers John Gola and Peter Skrupski. Walter was born on June 18, 1929 in Prince Albert, SK. He grew up north of Tyndall, MB and early in life he became an entrepreneur, running businesses in Garson and Selkirk. He was a generous and friendly businessman, doing his best to serve his customers. He believed in serving his community and was active in Selkirk's Town Council, the Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club. Walter loved the outdoors and spent much time camping, fishing, boating and berry picking. He was also serious about his physical fitness and he ran his first full marathon on his 50th birthday. He would also cycle and cross country ski, and he never missed a polka on the dance floor. Walter loved people, especially his family, as he and Adeline would host many family dinners and parties. He was a regular at the local coffee shops and always had a joke or story to share. Sadly, for the past several years he has suffered from Alzheimer's but he still managed to convey his love in his own way. Special thanks to the staff members at Tudor House who went out of their way to provide care for Walter. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service to celebrate Walter's life will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk, MB at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Terry Fox Foundation, CancerCare, or a charity of your choice.
