Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Dear Donny, Gaylene & family, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. Lynne was truly a beautiful woman. I so enjoyed seeing her every morning to pick up our tickets & enjoyed working with her at a few store openings. She was the mother to all of us File people & saved my bacon one time when I made a fatal error. My thoughts are with you all today. Unfortunately, I won't be with you as I have a family matter I have to attend to. Lynne will be missed by so many people who's lives she touched. ❤️Fran - Posted by: Fran Senka (Clapham) (Co worker) on: Mar 31, 2017

  • Lynne worked hard, and expected those around her to do the same. I learned a lot from her, and she was in my corner more than once. We worked hard, but had a lot of fun doing it. God there are many memories that flooded in to my head over the past few days.....I am sorry to be away and not able to attend the memorial tomorrow. Sending love to Donnie, Gaylene, and family. • I had the pleasure of working with Lynne, sister Gloria and her father Wilf when I worked at Safeway in stores and head office. Lynne was head cashier for decades at 705, Niakawa and St. Anne's. When I think of 705, I always picture Lynne, a fixture there. She had a sense of humour and I remember one experience of it. One of my friends was Assistant Mgr running the store there and he was held up that evening. The thiefs took the cash and ran. During this time Safeway was having quite a problem with their checkstand bags, very poor glue and with only a half bag of groceries, the bottom would give out. Customers were demanding double bags to make sure the bottoms wouldn't give out and head office were telling the store not to double bags as it was very expensive. When Lynne was asked about the robbery that evening, she reported the cash office should have put the money in one of these paper bags. The thiefs would have lost their money before their reached the exit doors as the bottom of the bags would hav given out. Thank you Lynne for the memories and the pleasure of working with you and your family. Miss you. - Posted by: colin dederick (former Safeway employee) on: Mar 29, 2017
