ROBERT THOMAS LEITH FIDLER Robert Thomas Leith Fidler has passed at the age of 75 years. He is survived by cousins, David Creighton in Ottawa, Jan McLean of St. George Brant, Ontario and their families, lifelong pal Jim Penner and his Christian family at St. Andrews Anglican Church in St. James. Bob was an avid gardener, an obsessive golfer and followed most team sports. A devoted benefactor of animals, he paid full ticket for eagles to be airlifted from a west coast rehab facility back to Manitoba for release, made the rounds to pick up yesterday's newspapers for bedding for No-Kill shelters, generously endowed the Humane Society and acted as a photographer for Winnipeg's Peregrine Falcon Nesting Program. Neighbours and passers-by on Valley View Drive will remember Bob's friendly greeting and loud war-whoop at cars going too fast down the street. Join us to celebrate a truly unique and colourful personality at St. Andrews Anglican Church, Woodhaven, 2700 Portage Avenue on Friday, April 7 at 11:30 a.m. Instead of flowers, please donate to The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 9Z9 or a No-Kill Shelter of your choice. Bob was a great person be at work with!! He was always joking or saying funny or silly things! Bob and I exchanged phone calls, Christmas cards and greetings for many years. He spoke very fondly of his sister Laverne and his cat Lilly. I felt Bob was like family to me. His kind heart and generosity towards animals always touched me. I wish I would have heard of his funeral memorial services as I would have been very happy to wish Bob his last farewell into Heaven. A man of that caliber will be missed and remembered forever. Love you, my friend. - Posted by: Noreen Grandt (Hnatishin) (Fellow worker and friend at Employment & Immigration on Graham Ave) on: Apr 12, 2017
