JOSEPHINE (JOSIE) CLEVELAND (nee RIOPKA) It is with heavy hearts that we announce Josie's peaceful passing on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the age of 91 years. Josie is survived by her daughter, Pat (Ron); four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and her husband Jim's family. Josie was born in Poland to the Riopka family on November 15, 1925. They immigrated to Canada in 1931. She was the second eldest of six children and had many a wonderful and colourful story about growing up a farm girl in St. Claude, MB. She ventured to Winnipeg in her teens, married and lived on Inkster for many years. Her working years were spent at Eaton's and the Chamber of Commerce. Being a country girl at heart, Josie loved growing flowers, always enjoyed coming to the country and spent many happy summers camping at "the Lake". She was talented and creative with needlework, sewing dresses and knitting sweaters with love and patience for those she loved. She was always very proud of her family and their accomplishments and did her best to lend a helping hand when she was able. Josie married her beloved Jim in 1986, referring to that time as the "happiest years of my life". They enjoyed travelling, dancing and visiting, living life to the fullest. As per Josie's wishes no service will be held. She will rest with Jim in Brookside Cemetery. From the depths of our hearts we would like to thank our "adopted" family Sue, Eleanor and Brooke and her sisters, for their years of love, dedication and support. Thank you to Betel Home Gimli for their compassionate and tender care.
