GARRY ERDMAN KEHLER Peacefully, on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Health Sciences Centre, Garry Erdman Kehler passed away at the age of 68 years with Joan, his wife of 39 years, by his side. Garry will be lovingly remembered by his family; wife Joan; daughters, Cheri Kehler (Shane Barker) and Lisa Batchelor (Jordan); grandchildren, Kalem, Rylan, Bodhi and Jack and sister Joan Martin (Gordon). Garry was predeceased by his parents, Ed and Margaret Kehler, as well as by his sister Diana. Dad was born in Altona, MB on May 2, 1948. The youngest of three children. He moved to Winnipeg in the late 1960s and began caretaking at various apartment blocks before moving on to jobs at Eaton's and General Foods. In 1977, he married his wife Joan and in the intervening years bought a house and started a family. Most people remember him from these years perennially dressed in his Shell uniform as he ran many Shell stations across the city. In his later years, Dad's health started to decline but he never lost the goofy sense of humor, that anyone who knew him will never forget about him. Cremation has occurred, and for those who wish to pay their respects, there will be a celebration of his life held at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. (across from Brookside Cemetery) on Wednesday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Health Sciences Centre Foundation. We had a lot of fun with Garry over the years. Yes, he liked to laugh and make jokes. We had a great cruise on the Red River in his sister Joan's yacht, we traveled with him & Joan to Las Vegas, they came to our wedding in Lindsay, Ontario with a side trip to Niagara Falls, they came out to visit us in Vancouver & we watched the fireworks from the Pan Pacific with an incredible view and we met up with them when they went camping at Clear Lake and Vermillion Park in Dauphin. Gary always knew how to make people feel welcome. He will be sadly missed. John & Jane Chersak - Posted by: John & Jane Chersak (Brother-in-law ) on: Apr 03, 2017
