DAN STASIUK Peacefully, with his family at his side, on Monday, April 3, 2017, Dan Stasiuk, aged 45 years of East Selkirk, Manitoba, passed away. Saying goodbye was so very difficult for such a wonderful man who touched our lives in so many unique and spirited ways. Dan leaves to mourn his soul mate, Cheryl; his brother Dave (Nicole) and his twin sister Deb (Jeff); niece Ashlyn; nephews Reid, Nathan and Oliver; stepdaughter Chelsea, and numerous extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his loving parents Emil and Ollie Stasiuk. Despite recent physical and mental struggles which took him from us and into the peaceful Kingdom of Heaven, Dan will always be remembered and cherished for his jovial and loving ways. He was a kind and considerate individual who put others' needs before his own. Admirable. He had many interests in life. Among them were the great outdoors and namely the pride he took in caring for and maintaining his beautiful acreage. He was a sports enthusiast on many levels and had a passion for cooking and grilling. Dan, you will be missed. Your memories will always be alive and vivid to all that know and love you. Though difficult now, in time we will have many memorable stories to share inside our circles. Our family would like to acknowledge the devotion, compassion and communication of both the Grace and St. Boniface Hospital ICU teams, and in particular his care leaders in Dr. Owen Mooney, Dr. Marcus Blouw and Dr. Gregg Eschun. We are forever indebted. It was Dan's wish that if there is a desire for donation that this be directed to the Winnipeg Humane Society in his honour. Cremation has taken place and services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk, Manitoba, with Marianne Propp officiating. Condolences may be left at www.gilbartfuneralhomes.com Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

  • I met Dan many years ago at Safeway in the meat department. I was a sales rep and he was a meat manager. Most times that is as far as the relationship goes. Just work. However with Dan and his easy going nature and personality our work relationship evolved into a strong friendship that hasn't happened with any other of my clients Dan was a special guy. Always had a story, and was happy even when things were not going his way. He treated me as a friend rather than only a sales guy at his store. Over the years we hung out more, going golfing (both of us being equally bad) so that made it easy. It was never a competition. I had the privilege of watching Dan catch a master angler channel cat on the Red River. We went for many a lunch together both having our go to "liver and onions" I will remember the times we spent together always and smile that our paths crossed. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Damon Willey (Friend) on: Apr 07, 2017

  • I have so many good memories of growing up with Danny around our house, and good memories of the Stasiuk family. Danny was another brother to me, one of many extras who always seemed to fill our house. He was both caring (I was only allowed in Marshall's birthday party photo one year because he insisted) and mischievous (I'm terrified of horror movies because of him). As we became adults, and in more recent years, I always admired the way Danny asked me about my kids whenever we saw one another. I knew he genuinely cared about my answer, and how they were doing. This is a tough one- there aren't many men better than him. Sending love to you Deb, Cheryl and Dave. I'm sorry we can't be there tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you. - Posted by: Erin Harris (Terhoch) and family (Friend ) on: Apr 06, 2017
