GERTRUDE (TRUDE) THERESE HERMANUTZ 1922 - 2017 With great sadness we mark the death of Gertrude Therese Hermanutz in Winnipeg after complications from dementia. She leaves behind her devoted and loving husband of 36 years Sigi (Zygmunt) Gorzny, sister Christine Itzlinger (Wels, Austria), children Eva Bear (Brian; Winnipeg), Luise Hermanutz (David Innes; Denman Island, BC), and Philipp Hermanutz (Sandy Straub; Perrysburg, OH), her grandchildren Derek Coronado, Leanna Kendall, Jessica Young (Eva); Kirsten, Craig and Alexander Hermanutz (Philipp), Stefan and Peter Innes (Luise), and great-grandchildren Allea, Ulla, Amelia and Oliver, and many nieces and nephews in Austria. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Therese Gugenberger, brothers, Walter and Peter Gugenberger, and husband Johann Philipp Hermanutz. Our mother emigrated from Austria to Canada in 1952 and lived for most of her life in Windsor, Ontario. She was an accomplished opera singer in her earlier years and her love of music was a constant love throughout her life. She made sure we all sang German songs at every family Christmas! She was also renowned for her baking and we all looked forward to her exquisite tortes and Christmas cookies. She owned her own bridal business (Maiden Bouquet) and was a master seamstress. She was a long-time member of the Teutonia Club and enjoyed dancing and dining there with her husband. She had a very good life. The family thanks the staff at Beausejour Health Centre for the excellent care of our mother while she was a resident. We will all miss her vibrant and energetic nature.
