Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT JOHN THOMPSON September 7, 1946 - March 29, 2017 Johnny died peacefully, surrounded by those who loved him most, on March 29, 2017. Born in Brighton, England, Johnny moved to Canada as a boy and was a lifelong Winnipegger. He worked as a teacher, but his real passions were cars, hunting down vintage items and learning their stories, tinkering with things, and making others happy. Although life threw many challenges his way, at the end, Johnny had all he wanted: love, family, peace, contentment, mindfulness, and amazing, quirky collectibles. Johnny will be deeply missed by his partner of 31 years, Ruthy; his son Aaron; daughter Ayrlia Star; daughter-in-law Diane; grandchildren, Aria, Cassandra, Anelia, Rhianna, and Jamie; extended family Renee (to whom he was a true mensch), Libbi, Yaron, and Micah; and sister Gail. Johnny did not want a funeral, but a celebration of life will be held at his favourite beach spot this summer. A gentle soul, a beautiful mind, a gentle giant, a man of many dimensions. Go peacefully my love into the night. My angel baby, my Johnny angel, babyface I will never cease to love you. Your girl forever, Ruthy.

Hi Ruth, I (Al) wasn't shocked to hear what had been happening with John, prior to his (your) initial call to me, but I was surprised to hear from you a week or so later, about his untimely passing. I have been super busy lately, but I have been thinking about you guys in the interim. Hang in there Ruth.
