JOAN PARSON (nee JOHANSON) On Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Joan Parson, 61, passed peacefully with her family by her side. Joan will be greatly missed by Tom, her loving husband of 33 years; son Jake (Sarah); granddaughter Nora Joan. She will also be missed by her father Lorne Johanson and siblings, Wendy (Charlie), Jim (Monica), Jeff and numerous nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her mother Helen Johanson. Joan was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to the town of Selkirk at a young age. She graduated from Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School and went on to do some travelling in the US before meeting Tom. Joan loved to travel and loved her home on the lake that Tom and her had built in 2000. She also loved winters spent in Phoenix, Arizona in recent years where she made many friends. One of her greatest loves came after the birth of her granddaughter Nora Joan in 2015 who she took great pride in and loved spending time with her. Tom and Jake would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Selkirk General Hospital, Dr Zoppa and all nurses and aides who cared for Joan in her last weeks. Everyone did an amazing job. Thank you all. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for Joan will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, anyone who so desires is invited to donate to a charity of your choice or simply do a kind deed for another. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
