Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVICTOR BALDWIN PALSSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving brother and uncle, Victor Baldwin Palsson of Arborg, Manitoba, suddenly April 10, 2017 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli, with his family at his side. He is survived by brothers, Siggi and Larus Palsson; sisters, Gudrun Tait and Inga Doll; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Larus and Elin, brothers, Pall, Oli, and Hjalti; sister Beatrice; sisters-in-law, Sigurros and Margaret, and brother-in-law, Robert. Victor was born February 2, 1943 and grew up on the farm, working alongside his family. He, along with his brothers Oli, Hjalti, and Siggi took over the mixed farm and successfully expanded its operation. His intelligence, common-sense and keen organizational skills lead him to become the farm bookkeeper and business manager. Victor's personality displayed patience, persistence and a stoic nature. He approached life with good humour and optimism. He loved the outdoors and nurtured all his animals and plants. Victor was an avid gardener who developed a true knack for pickling and canning. He loved to share his bountiful harvest with family and friends. Victor was devoted to family and dedicated to friends and community. Family always came first, whether it was a weekly visit, a birthday celebration or a special family occasion. He was humble, kind and genuinely took an interest in each member. Victor was generous with his time and talents, and always ready and willing to help a neighbour. He volunteered selflessly with the Geysir Community Club and local INL, "Esjan", for many years. In recent years Victor and his brothers moved to Arborg and soon cultivated many new friendships with the local coffee crew. Taking advantage of the town lifestyle, Victor and Siggi continued to be avid walkers, both for pleasure and exercise. With regular trips home, Victor and Siggi kept alive their connection to the farm and the land. Victor's heart and soul always called him back to Adalbol, the family homestead. A private memorial service was held on Saturday, April 22 at the Arborg and District Multicultural Heritage Village. "He lived his life for those he loved and those he loved will love and cherish him forever!" We little knew that morning God was going to call your name, In life we loved you dearly In death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you You did not go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
