WESLEY WOWCHUK It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Wesley Wowchuk at Oakview Place on April 11, 2017 at the age of 89 with his son Kenny by his side. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret. Lovingly remembered by his sons, Jerry (Charlene) and Kenny (Daurelle) and grandchildren, Brenden and Morgen. His youngest and only brother left, Wilfred Wowchuk as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Wesley was born on January 2, 1928 in Rama, SK. He was the second youngest of 12 siblings. He grew up in the "Dirty Thirties" and life was very difficult for his family. He moved to Winnipeg in 1951. He lived in a rooming house on Furby Street, at the same time as Margaret, they met and got married on July 16, 1960. They continued living on Furby until they could afford to purchase their home with cash in 1965. Their first son Jerry was born in 1966 with Kenny arriving in 1968. Wesley drove truck for over 39 years with Independent Fish first and continuing his career with Motorways until he retired in 1989. Wesley enjoyed many of life's simple things like gardening, making perogies, going for coffee and meeting up with his friends. He had a rare talent for subtle humour and enjoyed laughter and the many good times that came at family gatherings. Heartfelt appreciation is extended to the staff at Oakview Place and Grace Hospital for the excellent care they took of our father the last three and one half years. A celebration of Wesley's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Wes was a good man who attended all our hockey games when we were kids. We were all a bunch of mongrows. His favorite saying to us. - Posted by: Shaw Lavallee (Friend of son) on: May 06, 2017
