Mom was a very special lady. It was very hard to let her go and she had a hard time letting us go. She suffered immensely before her passing and is now at peace and free of pain. Mom was born in Perigord, Saskatchewan, moved to St. Laurent, Manitoba at the age of 10. She eventually met and fell in love with our father Gilbert. Gilbert died in an ice fishing accident at the age of 27 and left mom and the children behind. Mom was pregnant at the time and gave birth to Gilbert Jr. after his passing. Mom was a stay at home mom when we were all little. Mom always made sure we were happy. She treated us all as equals and was always fair. We didn't have much but we were happy and loved. She went back to school to take a course as a dental assistant. She ended up working as a Librarian at St. Laurent Collegiate and lastly as a Teacher's Aid at Lansdowne School in Winnipeg until her retirement on her 70th birthday. After we all left home and were married, she met and married Emile. Emile became ill and Mom took care of him until his death in l999. Mom, we all love you and we couldn't have asked for a better mother. You are number one in our eyes. A mass will be held at the St. Laurent Roman Catholic Church by Father Paul in St. Laurent, Manitoba at 6:00 p.m., burial to follow. Eulogy and prayers will begin at 5:30 p.m. A big thank you to the staff at the Assisted Living Centre in St. Laurent, the Lundar Personal Care Home in Lundar and most recently, the Rosewood Lodge Personal Care Home in Stonewall. We thank you all for the care and compassion you gave our mother during her time there. MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall 204-467-2525 info@mackenziefh.com
