Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • For several years Oliver and I sat next to each other in the choir at First Mennonite Church. I remember him struggling to wrap his tongue around some of the selections we sang in German, Latin and even Russian. He told me many times that his favourites were the gospel tunes he grew up with. During one of our chats I went on and on about the Fairfield Four being one of my favourite gospel groups. Oliver listed patiently and when I finally shut shut he just said quietly "Yes, I remember seeing them often when they were just a young gospel group singing in the Fairfield Baptist Church in Nashville". I realized then that there was no need for me to introduce the Four to Oliver, but he was a patient listener. Oliver was always a gentleman and he will be missed. - Posted by: David Ediger (Friend) on: Apr 18, 2017

  • On behalf of the First Mennonite Church Choir I offer condolences to the family of Oliver who sang with our choir for several years. Oliver sang in the baritone section and was a friendly face for all. He always had an upbeat greeting and comment for his fellow choristers. - Posted by: First Mennonite Church Choir - Lori Klassen () on: Apr 18, 2017
