JEAN-LEON OUIMET 1925 - 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean-Léon Ouimet at the St. Boniface Hospital on April 13, 2017. Jean-Léon was born in Ste. Agathe, Manitoba on August 11, 1925. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Marie (née Péloquin); his eight children, Rita (Emile) Côté, Denis (Claudette), Louis (Janice), Henriette (Ray) Beger, Monique (Dwight) Propp, Norbert, Marcel (Elaine), and Paul (Donna); 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Adélard (Simone) and Cyrille (Lucille). He was predeceased by the mother of his children, Doris (née Hébert); his parents John and Célina (née Hébert); brothers Adrien (Hélène), and Michel (Eveline); his sisters, Yvonne (Philippe) Barton, Marceline (René) Pilon, Marie-Reine (Paul) Doucet, Simone (Marcel) Caron, Félixine (Paul) Mailhot, and infant great-grandson Keegan Newell. Dad faced his cancer with an unbelievable peace that even he could not believe. He asked God, that day, on his way to his appointment, to carry him as he could not bear it anymore. He said, that at that very moment, complete peace overcame him and God never left his side until the day of his passing. It was truly beautiful as he helped us to say goodbye. He knew that life after death was real and that he was going to a better place. Goodbye Dad. Say hi to everyone in heaven for us. You are leaving a big hole in our lives. You kept us together as a family. Go and rest now and make the people in heaven laugh with your jokes. The family would like to thank Dr. Guy Sherwood and the amazing nursing staff at the St. Boniface Hospital. Your loving and gentle care of our dad was greatly appreciated. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Ste. Agathe Roman Catholic Church, Ste. Agathe, Manitoba, on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Ste. Agathe Cemetery. Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I have great memories of Mon oncle Jean Leon - times at the farm, his laugh, his music, his smile, etc. My favourite that I am most thankful for was his relationship to my mom. They spoke almost every day, saw each other often and I think comforted each other when they were 'blue' and helped each other often with rides, etc. He lived well and was loved - may his memories stay in your memory and his love in your hearts! - Posted by: Lizanne Mailhot (Niece to Oncle Jean Leon) on: Apr 23, 2017

  • A man who liked to have fun and had a big smile. But on occasion when playing hockey could end up in the penalty box. A firm handshake and before you know it a 20 minute visit turns into 2 hours. He had a life well lived, leaves behind a wonderful family and may he rest in peace. To the entire Ouimet family please accept our condolences on the passing of "Uncle Johnny" Bill & Bev Condon - Posted by: Bill Condon () on: Apr 22, 2017

  • My condolences on the passing of your dad. Thinking of you and your family. If there is anything you need please ask. - Posted by: Janice Bettens (Friend and neighbor to Monique) on: Apr 21, 2017

  • To Paul and Donna and the rest of the family Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. 26 Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die..." John 11:25-26 Even through tears and loss, Jesus assures us that His victory is ours. Because Jesus lives, we too shall live. May God bring you comfort with His words of promise. - Posted by: Pastor Lee Loveridge (Pastor at First Lutheran Church Kelowna ) on: Apr 20, 2017

  • Please accept my most sincere sympathies on the loss of Mon Oncle Jean-Léon. My parents were very close friends with the Ouimet family. Mom's Godparents were John and Célina (Memere and Pepere Ouimet). I remember going to the farm (Jean-Léon's) every Friday with Mom and Dad. At one point, I thought we must be cousins because we were so close. I have many good childhood memories, Mon Oncle cleaning out the barn, Louis riding his horse and giving us rides. Those were definitely fun times! C’est avec grande tristesse que nous avons appris le décès de Mon Oncle Jean-Léon. Nous partageons votre peine et vous faisons part de nos sincères condoléances. Mon Oncle Jean-Léon, tu es dans les bras de Jesus. - Posted by: Darlene and Jacques Sorin (Very Close Friend of the family) on: Apr 19, 2017
