I had the chance to get to know "Gramps" as he was affectionately called when came to visit Winnipeg. He would call me "Stretch" being a tall lanky teenager at the time. I remember him as humourous and easygoing. Letting us play in his large (or what seemed large to us anyway) camper parked in Windsor Park, playing for the first time on a CB radio and getting into troublle. The best part was seeing the stacks of candy and chocolate he would bring, and sneaking it ove the following months and years while we could. My condolences to the family.
