The third of 10 children born to Elsie and William MacMillan, Evelyn grew up on a farm in Meadow Lea where although there was little money for anything other than the necessities, there was always lots of love. She married John in 1954 and together started a life and family in Port Alberni, BC. In 1958 they moved to Winnipeg where Evelyn took pride in being a wife, mother and homemaker. Later, once her kids were grown, she worked for a time at the Winnipeg Free Press. She loved to get together with her brothers and sisters for family events and took great pride in her children and grandchildren. Evelyn and John enjoyed many summers at Lee River with their good friends Don and Helen Kropla and her sister and brother-in-law Audrey and Art, building wonderful and lasting memories especially for their grandchildren. Evelyn had many friends and participated in all the activities of her Seniors' and Condo groups. She loved to dance and always had a smile for everyone. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street.
