My entire childhood was spent in the care of Auntie Anne. From 3 months old to 12, she was my person. And what a person she was. Firm, fair, kind, loving, stubborn, funny, generous, full of integrity and full of heart. I have too many memories to count, each bringing smiles to my face as I look back and relish what it was like to grow up in that time. Auntie Anne played such an integral role in shaping who I am today. She taught me things like how to play cards and how to bake but most importantly she taught me the importance of character. That being honest was crucial, that standing up for a friend was essential, and to believe that you can truly do anything as long as you put your mind to it and do the work to get there. I will remember fondly her broad smile and hearty hug, puffed wheat cake, Spiderman and Hercules after school, playing schoolhouse or Barbies in the basement, the sewing machine, the Rhubarb patch behind the house and even the fact that she would let us have peanut butter & mayonnaise sandwiches and never once told us that was strange. We visited her in St.Jacob's and loved introducing her to our children. They already know many stories of growing up in Winnipeg and I will continue to honour her memory in those childhood tales. My deepest and sincere condolences to the whole family. Sincerely, Jennifer Powell - Posted by: Jennifer Powell (nee Watts Lowther) (Daycare Kid/Friend) on: Apr 22, 2017
