MARGARET JEAN BELLHOUSE (nee DALY) 1924 - 2017 It is with sadness that the family of Margaret Bellhouse announces her death at The Convalescent Home in Winnipeg, at the age of 92 years. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her children Allan (Roma), David (Louise), Pat (Gary) Russell, John (Susan), Mike (Terry) and Mary (Gord) McCallum, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and special family friend Carol Niven. She was predeceased by her husband Richard "Dick" Bellhouse. Margaret was born and raised in Winnipeg. She married Richard following high school and together they raised their family. Music was a big part of Margaret's life. She played organ, piano and clarinet, occasionally embarrassing her sons by showing up in the orchestra for Gilbert and Sullivan productions at Kelvin High School. She began playing for the church at St. John's Cathedral when the family lived in Saskatoon, and played for many churches in Winnipeg. She sang for many choirs, Winnipeg Ladies Choir, Orianas, the Winnipeg Philharmonic, For Pete's Sake Singers, the Gilbert and Sullivan Singers, St. John's Cathedral Choir and St. Luke's Anglican Church Choir. Margaret enjoyed knitting and latch hooking. The family still has many pieces. Margaret was an avid reader, she even designed a method of being able to read and bottle feed her babies at the same time. She belonged to bowling leagues in both Saskatoon and Winnipeg. Together with Dick, they enjoyed the Symphony and summers at the cottage, to which grandchildren were frequent visitors. She was proud of her grandchildren's accomplishments and abilities, whether in music, sports or academic achievement. The family would like to thank The Convalescent Home for their care and compassion, as well as the St. Luke's Pastoral Care Ministry for their outreach to Margaret. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at St. Luke's Anglican Church, 130 Nassau Street North. Donations in Margaret's memory may be made to St. Luke's, The Convalescent Home, or to a charity of your choice. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Although I knew Dick through U of W, I got to know and love Margaret when she played the organ at St. Andrew's Elgin United Church. One day she advised me to listen very carefully to the offertory music on Sunday. I was delighted to be (I think) the only to realize she had altered the timing and was playing "Yellow Submarine". What a great day, and the evidence of the marriage of great talent and wonderful humour! - Posted by: Lynette Miller (friend) on: May 01, 2017

Sincere sympathy from Jim and I on the loss of your mother. Her life touched many lives and left and imprint of beauty. May happy memories of time spent together soften the pain and loss. - Posted by: Karen Bender () on: May 01, 2017

I knew her as Maggie - not sure whether she minded that name - but it seemed to fit her. We sang together in the Phil for awhile and I admired her very much. My sincere sympathy to all her family, especially Andrea - Posted by: Celoris Miller () on: May 01, 2017

I have fond memories of Margaret from our time living in Saskatoon. She was my Dad's secretary at the Cathedral. How she ever managed to raise such a large family and work outside the home in those days is a mystery to me. I do remember baby -sitting once when she and Dick were able to get away for a weekend. She left prepared meals and all I had to do was warm things up and get them on the table. Well, I nearly failed that simple task as I forgot to use oven mitts when I reached in and grabbed the hot meal. I remember thinking that I just couldn't drop it or all those kids would go hungry. Let's just say that I never made that mistake again!! You will miss your Mum. I will miss knowing she is there. We have stopped by for a visit several times when travelling from Belleville, Ontario, our home, to visit family in the West. I will cherish my memories!!
