Phyllis appeared in my life some twenty years ago or so as a messenger of Divine promise and human kindness. I was attracted to her doorstep when, walking by, I noticed a sign in the door. The sign was bright and friendly, just as Phyllis always was when we talked. It not only mentioned her new sewing and alteration business but also welcomed the visitor with a prayer and a blessing from the Bible. With such kindness it was no wonder that we became friends. Over years of change that followed, Phyllis opened her home and her heart to me many times. I will always be grateful to her and to Denise for helping me when I needed it most.
