Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORM LARSEN Norman Garrod Larsen was born in Moose Jaw on April 4, 1935 and died in Winnipeg on April 26, 2017 of the cancer he lived with for several years. He wrote the following: Norm (a.k.a. "Normsie" since 1972) lived and worked most of his life within walking distance of Portage and Main. He was fortunate in health (222 blood donations), travel (even Petra, 1960) and education (Harvard, even, 1980), fame (17 minutes), and had more than his fair share of luck and chocolate. His 30 years in law practice include private practice (Zuken, Penner and Larsen), Legal Aid Manitoba (he was its first staff lawyer) and Legislative Counsel (writing provincial legislation). Norm is survived by Linda Perry, his wonderful partner of 30 years, his brother Sid and Sid's sons Richard, Don and Cam and their families, all in British Columbia, his son Kenton and his partner Caroline Traweger, his daughter Janna and her partner Phil Reddy, nephews Ron and Rick Camilleri in Mississauga, Linda's parents Ed and Anne Perry and extended family in New Brunswick, her sister Shelley Ryan and husband Mood, their daughter Kayla, her husband Seth Cholodnuik and son Vayden, all of Snow Lake; and Linda's aunt Cindy Lueken and husband Paul of Lee River. Norm was predeceased by his brother-in-law Charlie Camilleri (1923 - 2011), sister-in-law Joan Larsen (nee Trouton, 1929 - 2012), and sister Peggy (1928 - 2014). Norm was grateful for his family and for friends and colleagues from over the years. They include his former wife Cathy and all the Elias family, Alan Scarth, Ab and Anne Thorvaldson; Drew and Kathy Henderson, Dave (Chopper) Ashmore, Don Milne; the Law Class of 1968 and Bar Ad Class of 1969 - especially John Guy, Larry Ring and Ken Hanssen (President of the Norwegian Bar Association); Norm and Helen Sundstrom; Clara and Joe Zuken and the Zuken Committee; Roland Penner, Mary Harrison; Gail Wylie, Dave Wright and all the TGIFers; Gordon Sinclair Jr., good neighbours Alice and Richard Martel; Rob Walsh and Carol Michon; the Anita Schmidt Lunch Group; and numerous friends and colleagues from law practice, especially Val Perry, Shirley Strutt and Ann Bailey. In his final years, Norm had the benefit of various health care facilities in Winnipeg, including CancerCare, W.R.H.A. Palliative Care Program, Grace Hospital, and Riverview Health Centre. Special thanks to Dr. Gingerich, Dr. Milner, nurse Cheryl Greaves, nurse Jennifer Konwalchuk at CancerCare, and the kind and caring staff of Riverview Palliative Care Unit (3 East).
