Date of Passing: Apr 26, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONARD T. ARIANO It is with a sad heart that I must announce that Mr. Leonard T. Ariano passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the age of 95. Uncle Len was the last of his generation. He was predeceased by his parents Angelo and Lillian Ariano. He was born and raised in Winnipeg and graduated from Gordon Bell High School when it was on Wolseley Avenue. Like many Fort Rouge boys he hired out with the C.N.R. in 1940 and retired from Symington in 1980. He served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. Refereed Junior Hockey in the 1940s and 1950s, he was a Mason and a Shriner. He spent summer weekends at the cabin that he co-owned with my dad, Douglas Thomson. Once he retired he would spend the summers at St. Laurent. From July until September you could find him lying out in the sun working on his tan while reading a book or doing a crossword puzzle or having a beer. He continued to do this until 2010. He then spent his summers tanning in his backyard, with the occasional weekend back at the lake. Following his wishes there will be no funeral. I would like to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre CD1 for their kind and compassionate care of Uncle Len during the past year. If you would like to make a donation to a charity in his memory please do so. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 204-925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
