Rudy passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg on May 3, 2017 at the age of 89 years. He is survived by his brothers Guy and Georges (Jeanette), his sister Germaine as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Béatrice, sisters Claire, Rita and Lucille as well as his brothers-in-law Eddy Lacroix, Léon Fontaine, Gilbert Neirinck and Willie Leclerc. He was raised in St. Lupicin, MB and then moved with the family to Marquette, MB when he was 16. From 1946-1958, he worked in various lumber camps in B.C. and northwestern Ontario during the winter and for Manitoba Highways in the summer. He then drove a gravel truck until 1972 when he bought the Lido Plage cement operation. Rudy moved the operation to St. Eustache, MB and became a consummate businessman, growing the business from a small 2-man enterprise to providing employment for a dozen people in the region. His seven trucks delivered concrete within a hundred kilometer radius, helping to build roads and foundations from St. Eustache to Stonewall, St. Laurent and the Woodlands area. He also established a close working relationship with the Hutterite colonies in the region. Rudy ran the business for 40 years, retiring at 84 years old and moving to Winnipeg to be closer to family. He travelled yearly to Las Vegas to attend the World of Concrete Exhibition and always kept informed on the latest technology. Rudy was a generous man with a good sense of humor. He was also a highly practical man and a very astute businessman. He made friends easily and particularly enjoyed the numerous relationships that he had with his family, his employees and his clients.
