ANTONIO (TONY) FRANCISCO VIEGAS It is with sadness that the family of Antonio "Tony" Viegas announces his passing on May 1, 2017 at the age of 87 years. Tony will be lovingly remembered by his wife Maria, children Dulce Viegas, Mario Viegas (Danielle), Anne Viegas-Shorten (Terrence Luthula), Rose Powzun (Neal), and Tania Monchamp (Bryan), grandchildren Kelly Powzun, Anthony Viegas, Lynne Viegas, Sophia Monchamp, Isabelle Monchamp, Cassie Luthula and Joannie Luthula, and sister Laurinda Viegas Sousa in Portugal. Tony was predeceased by his brother Fernando Viegas and his parents. Tony grew up in Portugal where he met and married his wife of 65 years. He moved to Winnipeg with his family in 1966. He worked at Versatile in Winnipeg as a welder for many years. He enjoyed returning to family and friends in Portugal whenever he could, especially in his retirement. Tony loved nature, animals, and his family and many grandchildren. When he was still active he loved to fix things up around the house and be outdoors. He was a very hard worker. The family gratefully acknowledges the careworkers (nurses, doctors and all staff) at Grace Hospital for their sensitivity to our family and the great care they provided to our father. We also would like to thank home care, who provided support to our family for more than a year. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church.
