GEORGE NOE JOSEPH PETIT July 24, 1926 - May 6, 2017 Peacefully, with family by his side, George passed away at Actionmarguerite (Taché Centre) on Saturday, May 6. George leaves to mourn his brother Joseph (Joe) and wife Julie (Suderman), sister-in-law Eva Petit (Jolicoeur), and sister-in-law Ida Appelmans (Lafortune). Dad is survived by daughters Gisèle Petit, and Anita Ritchot (Michel), sons Richard (Joanne), and Jean; grandchildren George Ritchot (Lucy), Rachelle Wildfang (Henry), Jarrett Petit, Jonelle Hupé (Patrick), Jennifer Petit (Mike Yurkiw), and Brigette Donnelly; great-grandchildren Kadden and Hailey Wildfang, Dominic and Zacharie Hupé, and Nash Yurkiw; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his wife Marguerite (Lafortune), his parents Maurice and Emma (Dumaine), daughter Georgette, his brothers Gerard, Oscar, and Jules, sisters Annette Pallard, Jeannette Hawka, and brother-in-law Mike Hawka. Mom and Dad were married in 1950 during the great flood. They raised their family in St. Boniface, and enjoyed the many family gatherings that were held over the decades; birthday parties, time spent at the cabin, and at the Petit Picnic. They especially loved spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dad was known for his love of babies, and would often be seen holding and goofing around with the youngest members of the family. Dad loved to dance. Even as he got older, you could still spot him and Mom taking a spin on the dance floor. They never missed a step. Maman, décédée depuis trois ans, ne pouvait plus attendre et le pris par la main pour le mener vers le Seigneur. We would like to extend our profound appreciation to the nurses, health care aides and staff of Actionmarguerite (Taché Centre) for their compassion and care for Dad these last few years. Funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16 at the St. Boniface Cathedral, 190 avenue de la Cathédrale, with viewing and eulogies beginning at 10:00 a.m. For those who wish, a donation can be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of choice.
