KEITH BARRY SHARP January 23, 1942 - May 5, 2017 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. Keith was predeceased by his wife Alma, and his parents Marjorie and Thomas. He leaves behind his 10 children, 25 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Keith is also survived by his brother Clive and sister Lorna in England. Keith moved to Canada with his first wife and children, Tracy and Jenny, in the late 1960s. In the early 1970s, he then moved to Rankin Inlet, NWT (Nunavut) to build the first school and that is where he met Alma. Together they had eight children: Sylvia, Pelagie, Tommy, Sheila, Margaret, Richard, Tina and Yvonne. They briefly lived in Sooke, BC from 1980 to 1986 and returned to Rankin Inlet. In 2008, Alma fell ill and that is when they bought their farm in Ashern, MB. The children would like to thank Ashern and surrounding communities for their support. In keeping with Keith's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family would like to invite you to a Come and Go gathering celebrating his life on Saturday, May 13, 2017 between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Ashern Legion Hall. A service will also be held on May 18, 2017 in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. Details can be found on Facebook and/or by contacting any one of his children. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Keith was a great person and one of the best men I ever worked for. His laugh was loud and often catchy. He was a hard working man and also treated all who worked for him as one of the family. I'm sorry we never stayed in touch as I worked for Keith for two seasons. I'm sure he will be sadly missed not just by family but so many friends around the world. Rest in peace my old friend as you will always be remembered. - Posted by: Roy William Burke (Former employee) on: Feb 12, 2019

  • I am so very sorry to hear about Keith. He was such a terrific person with such boundless energy, definitely one of a kind. Keith has many friends here in Sooke and I will pass on this notice with great sadness. Only a few days ago I left a message on Keith's phone asking how the hernia surgery went because were expecting him back here in Sooke a couple weeks ago. I knew Keith, Alma and all the children here in Sooke back in the mid eighties and we have kept up ever since with Christmas cards, he kept me up to date on Alma after her illness and of her passing and the goings on of all the children that he loved so very much. With much love to all the family, Elaine - Posted by: Elaine Ellinger (McKinney) (friend of family) on: May 12, 2017
