I had the pleasure of working with Pete many times over my 15 years of service with VIA RAIL CANADA. He had a great sense of humor and was a good chef and dedicated hard worker. May he enjoy his retirement in heaven as much as he enjoyed working with all his brother and sisters on board service. R.I.P. So sad to hear the news of Peter's passing. Those who knew him found a sincere, fun-loving, and hard working individual. Peter left his mark on those that had the privilege to befriend him. He truly was original and his originality will be missed. . Rest now Peter...God Bless ...Wendy - Posted by: wendy (friend) on: May 12, 2017

Our family lived directly across the back lane from the Schaef family for several years before their house was sold. The Ryland girls attended the same schools as the Schaef boys and childhoods were shared with the same neighborhood kids. How saddened we are to learn of the passing of Peter. Our heartfelt condolences to the family. - Posted by: The Ryland family (Former neighbour) on: May 11, 2017

I had the pleasure of working with Pete on the train on numerous occasions. Every time i saw his name on the crew list, I knew we were in for a good trip and an even better layover. He was kind , dedicated to his work and fellow workers and was even a little mischievous but always always in a playful way. He was fun to be around and he will be missed. My condolences to all who had the privileged to knowing him. marc bergeron - Posted by: marc bergeron (friend) on: May 11, 2017
