Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARRY ARTHUR YANKE On May 9, 2017, with his family by his side, Barry Arthur Yanke passed away at the age of 64. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Barb; daughters Erin (Mike) and Heather (Gregory), and grandchildren Emma and Ethan. He will also be missed by his mother Helen, his brothers Ron (Marie), Rob (Donna), Jeff (Cindy) and his brother-in-law Butch, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Barry was predeceased by his father Art, sister Eleanor, brother-in-law Asi, father and mother-in-law Robert and Edythe Everatt, and brother-in-law Albert. Barry was born in Eriksdale, MB on May 3, 1953, as the third child of Art and Helen Yanke. He grew up on the family farm west of Ashern where he developed his lifelong love of nature. He was an avid hunter all his life and always looked forward to the fall hunting season, especially the annual moose hunting trip. Barry met and fell in love with Barb in 1980 and they were married on August 1, 1981. Shortly after, he bought his business Moccasinfoot's Minnows, which he owned and operated with pride until his passing. He spent the winter months ice fishing, learning the trade from his brother-in-law Asi and then fishing for many years with his cousin Ted. Barry loved spending time with his daughters and made sure they knew how much he cared for them. Whether it was searching for the perfect Christmas tree or looking for wildlife on an evening drive, family time was incredibly important to him. Recently, he took on the role of grandpa to Emma and Ethan and loved watching them play and grow. His grandchildren held a very special place in his heart. We would like to give special thanks to the Home Hemo Program at Seven Oaks Hospital for helping him stay with us as long as possible. A celebration of Barry's life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Ashern Centennial Hall with Dawn Tober officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Yanke, Rob Yanke, Derek Yanke, Jeff Yanke, Ted Yanke and Rick Yanke. In lieu of flowers, donations can made to the Seven Oaks Hospital Foundation, in care of Home Hemo Dialysis, 2300 McPhillips St., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2V 3M3.
