Mr Sadler was my teacher throughout high school at Dakota Collegiate. He understood the strengths, potential and the struggles of the students in my class. He had a way to connect with everyone in my class (and some of us were very difficult students). My condolence to his family. I will never forget him. Class of 2001. - Posted by: Michael Milner (Student ) on: Sep 07, 2017

I first met Bob at Dakota Collegiate and we hit it right off. Bob was funny, intelligent, thoughtful and caring. He had a huge influence on me as an educator, father, friend and husband. I would seek advice from Bob on a regular basis. His Love for Jan, Rene, Melanie and Danielle along with his grand children was always a topic of our conversations. I am so glad to have Bob in both mine and my family's lives. Bob could wear different hats very easily, acting as a big brother or offering fatherly advice. Love You and will miss you! I will miss my introduction as MBS. YBS, Chris - Posted by: Chris Chapman (Friend) on: May 12, 2017

I wish to express my sincere condolences to Bob's family. I had the honour of getting to know Bob first as a colleague and then as a friend. He showed me in so many ways how to work with and on behalf of the students that we sought to assist. He gave so much to everything and everyone through his work and his strong connection to his community. The most important thing in his life was his family; he talked so much about each of you. I wish you comfort and hope that the care and love you have for each other will help you though this difficult time. Bob, you will be missed but your impact on all of those you touched will not be forgotten. - Posted by: Reid Hartry (Friend) on: May 11, 2017

We were so saddened to read of Bob's passing. We have known Bob & Jan since our "Marsen Streaker" days, oh so long ago, when I played softball with Jan, and Bob coached along with Wayne Martin. "Those were the days...." and we have very fond memories of Bob as a coach! He was, even then, a great teacher. We extend our sincere condolences to Jan, your girls and their families. Know that you are ALL in our thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Glen & Valerie Bergeron (Friends) on: May 11, 2017

I offer my sincerest condolences to Jan, the children and grandchildren on Bob's passing. I last saw Bob when his mom Hazel passed away. Our mothers knew each other from Melville days, so kept in touch. I remember Bob and his mom trekking to our place on Wolseley in the late 1940s, and mom and I to their place on Guildford in St. James. It was sadness that brought us together when Bob and I met at Jocelyn House as Hazel was dying. It's sadness again at Bob's passing from cancer as had his mom that leads me here now. Rest easy, childhood chum. - Posted by: Gord Richardson (Bob and I played together as kids) on: May 11, 2017

I extend my deepest sympathy to Jan and the entire Sadler family. May your feelings of loss soon be replaced by wonderful memories of the great man that was your partner, your Dad, and your Grandpa. Bob was first my colleague and I want to emphasize his significant contributions to public education in the Louis Riel School Division. His long career in Manitoba's school system was characterized by genuine caring for children and young people, appreciation of the true meaning of inclusion, collaboration, hard work, and professional and ethical behaviour in all of his interactions with others. Bob's contributions as a Teacher, Student Services Teacher, and Divisional Student Services Coordinator in the Louis Riel School benefited countless students, parents, and colleagues. Bob was always positive and solution-focused. He always had a bright smile. He was always ready for a new challenge. Over the course of our work relationship, Bob became a friend. I knew that family was his "North Star" and that community and contributing to the greater good were very important for him. I know he faced cancer with courage, strength, hope, and the "Sadler Smile"! This last challenge is over now, Bob. You've been strong for Jan, the girls, their families, and your friends throughout these trying times...but now, it's time to Rest In Peace, Bob. I will miss you. - Posted by: Terry Borys (Colleague and Friend ) on: May 11, 2017

We are saddened at the news of Bob's passing. He did, indeed, have a caring and big heart, loving spirit and boundless energy. He always put others ahead of himself and was an educator who treated his students like family. Although we lost touch with the Sadlers over the past few years, we've never forgotten them and pray that their faith, combined with their love for and memories of Bob, will carry them through this difficult time. God bless. - Posted by: Bill & Careyn Head (Friends) on: May 11, 2017
