HAROLD GEORGE SCHLAMP On Thursday, May 4, 2017 with his family by his side Harold George Schlamp peacefully passed away. Hal will be lovingly missed by his daughters, Pamela, Deborah, Cheryl of Kansas, Randie of Wisconsin and Kristine of British Columbia, grandchildren, Lyndsey, Kelly, Jason, Jessie and Kurtis and great-grandchildren, Emmelyn and Millie. Harold was predeceased by the love of his life, June, ten years ago. Harold, only child of Rudolph and Albertina Schlamp, was born on December 20, 1928, in Winnipeg. From an early age, he had an appreciation for the outdoors and loved the beauty of nature. He married his lifelong sweetheart and moved to Alberta to further his career with Central Mortgage and Housing. This is where Hal got the development bug and schooled to become an AACI. Hal and June both being only children returned to Winnipeg so their parents could be doting grandparents. Upon their return, Hal decided to be the entrepreneur many knew him as. He was a shrewd businessman and loved to wheel and deal. He developed many multifamily properties. Dad was not all business as he enjoyed hunting, curling and golf and times at the cottage and we cannot forget his adoration for his four legged friends, especially his black labs. His passion for hunting extended to the school, where he taught Hunter Safety. Dad encouraged education and agreed with the statement that `knowledge is power'. Those who knew Dad knew he would never pass up a good poker game either. He was brought out of early retirement to be the Vice-President of Kildare Construction. Hal and June loved to pack up the car and travel and if they could visit a daughter, all the better. Family meant everything to Dad and he will be missed dearly by his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Forever in our hearts. We love you Dad (Poppa). The family would like to thank Dr. Sheldon Permack and Sandy for all the care given to Mom & Dad over the years. Cremation and a private memorial service has taken place. Donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 9Z9. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
