Eva and I are very sad to have lost Jim. I have known him for about 30 years, first when I was at NRC in Ottawa, and then the next 23 years when I was at NRC in Winnipeg. He was a productive chemist in a very important field, and I discussed many subjects with him, including the future of the University of Manitoba when he was Dean of Science. We also played some great tennis together, he with his special bent wrist table tennis shots whose landing spots were hard to predict. As we planned to build the new NRC institute in Winnipeg he was very helpful in advising us of local details, including what not to do. WE also shared a Scottish bond since my father was born in Blairgowrie and I still have relatives in Perthshire. - Posted by: jamieson, james chilles (colleague) on: May 14, 2017
