RUTH LOIS LAMONT On May 9, 2017 Ruth Lois Lamont, a faithful servant of our Lord, died peacefully at the Grace Hospital. Lois was born February 8, 1923 in Weyburn, SK. At the age of 21, Lois moved to Winnipeg where, on a weekend leave from the R.C.A.F., Arthur Hugh Lamont walked into her life. Lois and Art were married in 1945, and celebrated 67 anniversaries before Art's passing. Lois embraced and celebrated life. She took the many household moves in stride, as Art's career in meteorology took them to many parts of Canada: Churchill, MB, Summerside, PEI, Hamilton, ON and Winnipeg, MB. In 1960 Lois and Art, along with their two young children, moved to Marville, France, R.C.A.F. 1 Wing for four years. Lois and Art enjoyed travelling, visiting friends and family in many parts of the world. Lois was a member of Westwood Presbyterian Church, where she had many cherished friends - a very special Church family. Lois is survived by her son David (Shelley Shapko), two grandsons Sean and Parker, and daughter Sue Hnatiuk. The family extends their sincere thanks to the many friends that have shown their love and support for Lois over the years, particularly during the time since she lost her dear husband Art. For the care and compassion shown by the staff at Sturgeon Creek Residence and the Grace Hospital, Lois's family extends their sincere thanks. A celebration of Lois's life will take place Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Westwood Presbyterian Church, 197 Browning Blvd. Should family and friends so desire, donations in memory of Lois, can be made to the CNIB, 1080 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 3M3, online at www.cnib.ca or other charity of their choice. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • To Lois & Art's surviving family: We wish to express our condolences and our prayers to you at the loss of Lois. Both your parents were our dearest friends during our years in Winnipeg and even after our move to Regina. We loved them and valued their wisdom offered in such genuine caring ways. They were role models in living out the Christian faith. We are so much richer spiritually for the opportunity to have known them. I (Ronda) will especially miss Lois for her prayers - not only the offer to pray for me but every time we were together we shared in prayer for each other and the burdens we each carried. I always left feeling that God had blessed me through Lois. I considered her my confidant, my mentor, my spiritual guide, and a dear friend. I know she is with her Lord and for that I give God thanks and praise that her days of decline were relativity few. May you all be blessed during the time of celebrating her life on the 10th and in all your remembrances. Unfortunately, we may not make it to Winnipeg in time for the service - we have to go to N.B. about that same time and don't foresee getting back in time. - Posted by: Ronda & Arend Bosch (friends ) on: May 15, 2017
