Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • If it wasn't for gary I would of never played hockey. Today hockey is still part of my life. I think it was in 1987 that gary gave me a hockey registration form to bring home and i still remember him (gary) saying hurry up and get it signed. I ran home and returned it within a hour. I have good memories of gary and always respected him. Today I thought of gary, still 30 years later. He was a really good guy. - Posted by: Rick H (My first hockey coach) on: Oct 16, 2018

  • My condolences to Diane and the family. I only found out today of his passing (Gorf) you'll be missed. Not only by the family but by all the people you touched in your life. I remember the first time we worked together at the yard office at 660 Jarvis Avenue on the afternoon shift. It was the beginning of a long friendship that I still hold dear. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten, by me or anyone else that have ever known you. You were always open, to lesson what someone had to say, you were thoughtful, kind, and always giving. Thanks for being you, love you man. - Posted by: Fred Shannon (Brother-in law, co-worker at CP Rail of 28 years, and good friend) on: Jun 25, 2017

  • Gary, even though I will miss the bologna sandwiches I know the children and all those whom you touched with your kindness will miss you more. You have truly left the Freight House a better place. One day we will have coffee again. Darrell - Posted by: Darrell Scarrett () on: May 22, 2017

  • Gary played an important role in the community being involved with the youth in a much need area of the city. I will always remember him as a happy go lucky person, always a smile a kind word and a how are you doing. The children and youth of the Freight House programs will benefit from the Life lesson you have brought to them, no doubt your encouragement will follow them throughout their life. So thank you Gary, I hope we made you proud, well I know we did, you will be missed by a lot of people. Condolences to your family RIP. • My condolences to Dianne and the entire family. Gary was one of a kind. I would be hard pressed to find someone that was as unselfish as Gary and used his time to help others. I can remember the early years when Gary and Dianne lost everything when the apartment block they were living caught fire and burned to the ground. These were not easy times for them. Gary's message was a simple one...... never give up no matter how bad things look and eventually through hard work and determination everyone can enjoy a good life. During his 31 year career at CP Rail he was able to guide and assist many fellow employees, and because of this he will never be forgotten. - Posted by: Gary Galawan (Co-worker) on: May 16, 2017
