JEANETTE JOHNSTON (nee DOUGALL) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeanette Johnston on May 3, 2017 at Grace Hospital, after a brief illness. She is survived by her son, Craig, and her daughter-in-law, Ruby, and by her nephew, David McCormick, as well as by a number of other nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Art, and by her mother, Isabella, and father, James. Jeanette was born in Winnipeg and grew up in St. Vital. She attended Glenwood School and Glenlawn Collegiate. Upon her graduation, she worked at Eaton's where she rose to the position of Executive Assistant. She married Art subsequent to leaving Eaton's. Shortly thereafter she began working at B.F Goodrich as an Executive Assistant until she retired to start a family. Jeanette was a very friendly and gracious person who had many friends and was loved by all. She loved animals. Her passing is a very difficult time for all who knew her. She led a wonderful life and the memories of her will live on in our hearts and minds forever. The family would like to thank everyone for all of their tremendous support and encouragement at this very difficult time. They would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the caregivers whom demonstrated such love and compassion in helping take such good care of Jeanette over the past several years. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service attended only by immediate family will be held at a later date. If you so wish, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or to a charity of your choice. We little knew that morning, God was to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, In death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, You did not go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, Your love is still our guide, And though we cannot see you, You are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again. R.
