Otto passed away peacefully on May 11, 2017 at Poseidon Care Centre. Otto leaves to cherish his memory, daughter Nancy Sullivan, son Richard Zipp (Priscilla) and son-in-law Jim Sinclair, grandchildren, Debbie (Harvey) Staszak, Kelly (Thomas) Hofer, Darcy (Tim) Salo, Nancy Sinclair, Billy (Brenda) Sinclair, Tracy (Lloyd) Esau, Kyle Zipp and Chris Matwick; also 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Otto was predeceased by Clementine Zipp (Walters) and Eleanor Zipp (Sloan), daughter Jeanette Sinclair, sisters Theresa Rand, Emma Jones, and son-in-law Lorne Sullivan. Otto was born in Winnipeg to Rudolph and Augustina Zipp on May 8, 1919. Dad worked as a plasterer for many years then for the Province of Manitoba as an electrician's helper. Dad's love for music was a great hobby. He played the harmonica since he was a young boy and played in many groups around Winnipeg. His harmonica friend, Terry, played and practiced together often. About two weeks before he passed, Terry was there playing the harmonica with him. Thank you Terry for being such a good friend to Dad. Thanks to the 4th floor staff at Poseidon for the care and compassion they gave to Dad, especially Barbara and Marina who were so very kind to Dad. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 708 McCalman Ave. Flowers gratefully declined.
