Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDIANE BEVERLEY YANCIW (nee NEMIS) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Diane Yanciw on May 12, 2017 at the age of 71 years. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Bill; her daughters, Kim (Ken) of Dallas, TX, Jodi (Marc) of Seattle, WA and granddaughter Aliyah. Diane was born in Winnipeg where she attended Churchill High School and began her lifelong friendship with Peggy Burmaster (Tate). Even when Peggy moved to the West Coast with her husband Larry, she and Peggy kept in touch and remained true friends for life, laughing and sharing happy memories on the phone for many hours. Diane started out working for Dr. West in the optometry field. She had fond memories of her days there and often mentioned what a good man he was. Later on in Diane's life, Dr. West's daughter, Karen West would become a close personal friend. Diane and Bill were married November 20, 1965 and they spent their lives together raising their daughters in Winnipeg Beach. Diane owned and operated the Gimli Pop Shoppe from 1975 to 1978. Her big smile and warm personality made it a welcomed stop for many who over time became loyal customers. The Pop Shoppe led her into community events which evolved into volunteering with after-school sports, coaching baseball teams from Winnipeg Beach School. She took great pride in seeing young people learn to play as a team and ultimately enjoy themselves together on the field. Diane was noted for her love of tea parties she adored sharing wonderful food and good company with family and friends. There was an annual tea party that took place at either one of her daughter's homes or at the family home on MacAulay Crescent. Diane was also noted for her love of decorating for the season especially Christmas, turning the house into a Christmas wonderland. A devoted animal lover, taking excellent care of her daughter's dogs, Barney and Tess and later her own Chloe. The family wishes to thank special friends Karen West and Lynn Kletke of Winnipeg for the amazing love and attention they gave to Diane, especially in her final days. The family also wishes to thank Shauna (Wayne) Poloway of West St. Paul for the special care and support provided. Thank you to Dr. P. G. Mehta, Dr. S. G. Wong and Dr. C. Y. Lau and their staff for the excellent health care they gave to Diane. Special thanks to the staff of Riverview Health Centre, 3 East who provided warm and loving care for Diane in her final days. Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul, MB. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests that you make a donation to the Canadian Liver Foundation.
