RITA LEVASSEUR (nee LAFERRIERE) August 16, 1920 - May 12, 2017 Peacefully, on May 12, Rita passed away at the age of 96 after a full and active life up to her death. Mom will be dearly missed by her daughter, Georgette Levasseur; grandchildren, Colette (Jeff), and Shawn (Josée); and her great-grandchildren, Eric and Stéphane. Mom's foster children, Darlene, Charlene and Bobby have remained a permanent part of Mom's family over the past 50 years, and will very much miss the memory of growing up with her, and their involvement with her as adults. She will also be remembered by Darlene's children, Cindy, Jessie, C.J, and Lia; Charlene's children, Raphael, Denis, Camille, and Beau; Bobby's son Andrew, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom had a true zest in living throughout her whole life. She participated in too many things to mention over her lifetime, but one of the most recent highlights of her life must be told. At the age of 93, she was thrilled to be Maid of Honour at her granddaughter Colette's wedding. Her courage and her determination are hallmarks of her special character. Throughout her life, she was clear on her expectations of herself, prioritizing people and giving of herself during the good times and the tougher times of a life richly lived. We would like to thank Dr. Hayward, who cared for her over many years. A special thanks to the caring staff of the South Wing 5th floor at the Victoria Hospital. Father Kevin Bettens of Mary Mother of the Church will preside over the funeral to be held on Thursday, May 18 at 11:00 a.m. at 85 Kirkbridge Drive. The interment at St. Norbert Cemetery will follow - attended by immediate family only.
