Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT ALLEN (BOB) WESTERHOF July, 28, 1960 - May, 15, 2017 Suddenly, after a short illness, Robert Allen Westerhof of Winnipeg, passed away May 15, 2017, at the age of 56 years young. He was predeceased by his mother, Judith Lorraine Westerhof (Meagher) on January 25, 2011. He is survived by his son Michael Westerhof (Judith Pettapiece) of Prince George, BC, his siblings, Karen Bellefontaine, (Toki), John Westerhof (Charmaine, Madeleine, Dominic), Judith Winogrodzki (Arthur, Tymek), all of Winnipeg, Uncle Bill Meagher (Susan, James, Michael, Daniel), of Winnipeg, Uncle Jerry Meagher (Cindi) of Grand Marais, his father, Gerrit Westerhof, of Winnipeg, and numerous cousins, and lovingly remembered by friends and colleagues. Bob was born in Vancouver, BC at the Grace Hospital, on July 28, 1960. As a young child, he moved to Europe with his parents, to West Germany. Three years later to Camp Borden, Ontario, subsequently to Ottawa, and then after five years, to Winnipeg. After elementary school, he joined the Militia, and subsequently attended the Regular Force Training School at Cornwallis, NB. Upon returning to Winnipeg, he worked at various jobs before he began his career as a security guard. He served at various sites in the city of Winnipeg, but the longest and favourite term of service was at the Polish Manor, on Selkirk, where he enjoyed conversing with the residents. His last assignment was at the Holy Family Nursing Home, on Aberdeen Ave., conveniently near his home. Bob was an avid sports fan. He loved the Bombers and the Winnipeg Jets, absolutely adored his Habs, and the Leafs, (maybe not so much), and his favourite, NFL Dallas Cowboys. He knew about almost every player in the NHL (and their statistics). He loved going to Jets and Moose games at the old Winnipeg Arena and MTS Centre, where he could enjoy a Super Dog, and he really enjoyed watching NASCAR racing. Bob loved the family BBQs and the Christmas, New Years and Easter family dinners. He will be sorely missed, but not forgotten. Rest in Peace, Bob. A graveside service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue at 10:00 a.m. on May 27, 2017. Flowers are gratefully declined, but donation to the charity of your choice is suggested. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715.
