Born in Hamburg, Germany October 13, 1937 to Vera Rudow and Rudolph Luebbert, his life's journey was an adventure from beginning to end. A sailor, a journeyman plumber, a devoted husband and father, he married his true love, Renate Helga Brigitte Dziuballe on April 15, 1959. The newlyweds arrived in Winnipeg, Manitoba in May, 1960 and there raised their three daughters, Angela, Eva-Marie, and Charlotte. The first 25 years of their marriage were filled with many happy memories. Then at age 46, Dad survived a debilitating stroke leaving him unable to communicate verbally. The next 33 years were bittersweet, but together they were able to experience their children's weddings, arrival of grandchildren, make several trips to Germany, and build their cabin at Grand Beach. Dear Renate, Just tonight I happened to see the Free Press obituary of your dear husband, and although it is more than a year ago when you lost him, I still would like to express my sincere condolences to you. I often wondered how you, dear Renate and Karl are doing. So very sorry for your loss. I know you were an amazing couple who went through such a very tragic event when Karl was still so young. We moved to Kelowna from Winnipeg in 1997. Are you still living in Winnipeg? My warmest greetings to you and your family, Doris Tonn - Posted by: Doris Tonn (Friend) on: Jun 27, 2018
