Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD OSCAR NOYD B.Comm. (Hon.), FSA, FCIA 1924 - 2017 Peacefully, on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at the age of 92 years, Dad passed away at the Victoria General Hospital. Dad was born on October 7, 1924 to Henry and Hilda Noyd of Wetaskiwin, Alberta. After completing high school, Dad served for three years in the Royal Canadian Signal Corp. being stationed in Kingston, Ontario, Victoria, BC, and Petawawa, Ontario. Following the war, Dad started his studies in the Commerce Program at the University of Alberta. During this time, he met and married Florence Mix. Shortly thereafter, Dad and Mom moved to Winnipeg and in 1951 Dad completed his Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Honours) majoring in Actuarial Science. Dad then started a 32-year career at Great West Life Assurance Company. While working, and raising a family, Dad continued with his actuarial studies and in 1962 became a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and in 1965 became a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA). Dad retired from Great West Life in 1983, holding the position of Corporate Systems Officer. Dad loved sports: baseball, hockey, curling and golf but most of all, he loved his family. Dad was kind, gentle and generous, and always put family first. His love and example will always be cherished. Mom and Dad devoted their lives to raising and caring for their four children and serving in various capacities at the Central Alliance Church. After retirement, Mom and Dad travelled spending portions of the winter in Arizona or Hawaii. Dad enjoyed socializing and having coffee with his golf buddies. He loved games of all kinds and, on occasion, would let someone else win. Beneath his quiet exterior, lay a competitive spirit. Dad will be greatly missed by his son Dan (Jocelyn), daughters, Marilyn (George) Gordon and Sandra (Jim) Hilash, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Dad was predeceased by his wife Florence, his mother, father, stepmother (Auntie), sister Ruth and son Larry. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 29, 2017 at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue (just outside the Perimeter Hwy.) at 2:00 p.m. The family wishes to thank Dr. R. Hayward for his many years of compassionate care and the staff at the Victoria General Hospital for the care and kindness during Dad's final hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to a charity of your choice. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. www.chapellawn.ca 204-885-9715.

I was fortunate to have had Harold as a boss at Great-West Life in the Computer Research Department. I worked with him from 1965 to 1972 when I left for Europe. Harold was an important member of our annual curling team and I even have a picture of him dressed up as a bunny one year! Those were great times indeed. I have such good memories of Harold at Lindenwood Terrace, He always joined in on the activities that were planned, especially Ladder Ball and Shufflebowling. But I will most remember his warm smile and gentle way about him, such a good man, was such an honor to have known him these past 10 years. My sympathies to the family. - Posted by: Lisa Nayler Griffin (Friend) on: May 29, 2017

Reflecting on years gone by, your parents demonstrated a steadfast faith in Jesus and enriched my life on a spiritual level. It as evident that they both trusted in God and walked with him. At a young age, your Mom and Dad took a genuine interest in me and showed showed love and concern to me. I look forward to one day, sharing a home in heaven with them. I believe that God gives each of us a "Heavenly Angel" and I believe your mom is mine. May God grant you all comfort and his peace. with heartfelt sympathy and prayers Mary-Liz - Posted by: Mary Elizabeth Long (friend) on: May 28, 2017
