CHARLENE EDNA STONEHAM (nee LEITER) March 19, 1953 - June 6, 2017 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of a truly loving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend after a brief, courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by parents Ella and Ted Leiter, Char left to cherish her memory her loving husband Ross, son Ryan (Naomi), daughter Deneen (Travis) Davidson, granddaughter Collyns, sister Carol (Wayne) Melnyk, brothers Bobby (Judy) Leiter and Larry (Debbie) Leiter, sister-in-law Janis Kippen, brother-in-law Jeff (Maureen) Stoneham, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Charlene was a lifelong resident of Winnipeg. While she enjoyed crafts, decorating, and travel, her priority was her family. Char and Ross had a wonderful life together - full of fun with their family and many friends. Always generous and willing to lend a helping hand, Char was a special friend to many. She was a loving and dedicated mother who greatly enjoyed being involved in her children's many activities. Constantly chauffeuring them to sporting events and commitments, she was a favourite amongst their friends and teammates. Her door was always open to Ryan and Denee's friends who fondly referred to her as their second mom. Although time spent with her baby granddaughter was short, Collyns was the sunshine of her life. You hold a treasured piece of our hearts that beats fully with love and laughter in your memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Char's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. I connected with Char at the Business Management Forum, an intense six-week course, when we were both between gigs. We were kindred spirits, creative and inclined toward some shit-disturbing which may have been why we were out of our jobs! After the course ended, we walked for months through Assiniboine Park five kms or so a day, figuring that at least we'd be fit while off work, sharing many laughs and some frustrations. Eventually, I backed into my dream job and Char got one that was less so. We ran into each other at dragon boat races a few years ago and I so wish we had stayed in touch. The memorial showed how much Char meant to so many and I, too, will treasure my memories of her. She lived and loved well and will be greatly missed. Sincere sympathy to Ross, Ryan and Deenie and all Char's family and friends. - Posted by: Gerri Thorsteinson (Friend) on: Jun 13, 2017
