Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRED B. SHARP August 28, 1937 - June 10, 2017 It is with a very heavy heart and profound sadness that I announce the passing of my husband Fred Sharp. Fred passed away peacefully at Grace Hospital with his wife Gwen at his side on June 10, 2017. He was a great man with a passion and zest for life. Fred will be sadly missed by Gwen the love of his life and wife of 55 years; his nephew Don; niece Catherine Chapman, great-niece Rebecca Wilson; great-nephew David Chapman, all from Nova Scotia; and godchild John Kooning, along with many cousins and friends too many to mention. His parents, Lily and Jack Sharp, sister Francis, nephew Jim Chapman, and in-laws, Fred and Annette Hangle all predeceased him. Fred was a very special person. He was the epitome of kindness, thoughtfulness and caring with a wonderful sense of humour. He could always be counted on to lend a hand or an ear. A person of such quality comes along once in a lifetime. It is impossible to describe how much Fred will be missed. Fred was employed by the City of Winnipeg Land, Surveys and Real Estate Department for 37 years, retiring in 1994. His greatest love and joy was flying his sailplane at the Winnipeg Gliding Club. Fred also enjoyed instruction, lecturing at ground school and serving as Chief Flying Instructor. He retired from flying in 2015. He loved to golf with Gwen at Glendale. With sincere appreciation to all 3 South staff for the wonderful care they gave Fred. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7; Winnipeg Pet Rescue, 3062 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Y1; or charity of your choice. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.

Gwen I have just found out about Fred's passing. It is with great sadness I send my condolences to you. I wish I had known he was sick. He was a very generous man with me and during our short time together in our research of our family trees brought fond conversations of the past and of the future. I hope he didn't suffer long in his last days. I will miss what could be. I hope you are having more days of happiness than sadness now. Your memories will always bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart. God bless and keep you safe and warm. - Posted by: Ron Girardin (Cousin) on: Aug 19, 2017
