Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN AGNES JOHNSON January 18, 1923 - June 16, 2017 It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evelyn Johnson at the age of 94. Evelyn will be sadly missed by her children, Harold, Les (Eileen), Maureen (Craig) Thompson, Sam (Karla), and Darlene (Curtis) Gallichon, also by her sister Rubina Einarson, son-in-law Greg Stevens and daughters-in-law, Norma and Kathy Johnson. Evelyn was so blessed to have so many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that brought so much joy into her life. She was an awesome aunt and special friend to many. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Eigill, her children, Cecil, Andrew, Lillian, and Raymond, her daughter-in-law Karen, her grandchildren, Michael and Bricey, her parents, Lawrence and Lily McKay, and many brothers and sisters. She spent her early years in Grand Rapids where she would later meet the love of her life, Eigill. They were married in February, 1947 and together they raised their nine children. They made many lifelong friends across Northern Manitoba, moving to the various hydro projects including Grand Rapids, Gillam, Jenpeg and Sundance. They later retired to Arborg in 1979. She always put her family first; Eigill and her children were her whole world. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were also so important to her, she enjoyed the little ones and would light up as soon as she saw them. She loved that the Johnson family was growing every year. We will cherish the personalized Christmas stockings she knitted as each new addition came on board. Those who had the privilege to know Mom very quickly witnessed her sense of humour. We will never forget her quick wit and that infectious laugh. Her competitive spirit will live on in all of us - her love for playing Rummy and Scrabble and to win at all costs! She was the best listener. Her calm demeanour and practical advice would always guide you to the right decision. If she didn't have the answer right away, a hug and a homemade butter tart, cinnamon bun, or bread would fix whatever ailed you. She taught us about unconditional love and that there is nothing more important than family. We were so lucky to witness such a deep love between Mom and Dad. They were best friends and shared so many happy years together; we were so blessed. We know that you are in heaven with Dad and your loved ones and are enjoying a few laughs and remembering the many special memories. We miss you so much! Thank you to the staff at the House of Hope and also the staff at the Arborg Hospital, especially Dr. Donelly, for the excellent care he provided to Mom. Thank you to Colleen Kilbrei for your very special friendship to Mom, she loved you so much but she wished you were a better Rummy player! A celebration of Evelyn's life will be planned in near future. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. My condolences to the family. Even though I do not really know Evelyn's children, I did know most of her brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews....remember good conversations and laughs (yes, she had great sense of humour) on Ellen's deck with Ellen, Evelyn and Rubina. My sincere sympathy. Take care. - Posted by: Nancy Greer () on: Jun 26, 2017

Evelyn was a very special friend and neighbor. Our time in Sundance was short but we met some friends that we still keep in touch with to this day and it was so nice to see pictures of her with her family through Facebook. She was a lovely lady and we were all so very very lucky to have met her and her family. Our condolences to all of you. Bill and Barb Traviss - Posted by: Barb Traviss (Friend ) on: Jun 26, 2017
