MARY LAURIE PATRICIA (PAT) PERCHAL (née MCGOWAN) May 8, 1927 - June 21, 2017 It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Pat Perchal, on June 21, 2017 at the St. Boniface Hospital, after a valiant battle with cancer. Pat will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Peter and her dear children, Janice (Gary Laidlaw), Jonathon and Paul (Tom Bianco); her precious grandchildren, Matthew (Blair) and Brittany Armstrong and her darling great-granddaughter Lauren. She will be especially missed by her special niece Patti Young (Bruce) and her dear nephews, Jim (Jan) McGowan and Andrew (Ruby) McGowan, as well as their families. Mom had a special place in her heart for Eero Gaffney and the extended Perchal and Laidlaw families. She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Marjorie McGowan and her only, much loved brother John and his wife Susie McGowan. A stay at home Mom, Pat quickly found her passion in the P.E.O. Sisterhood and was recently honoured for 65 years of membership and service. Pat served in many offices within her chapter, on the provincial board and internationally. Within P.E.O., Pat made many lasting friendships and will be missed by her many sisters. She was also a long-time volunteer at Greenway School. Pat's summers were spent at the family cottage at Victoria Beach, with her family and friends, and Pat was saddened that she would not be able to see it again. An avid golfer, she was frequently seen on the Victoria Beach Course, as well as at the Canoe Club. The family would like to thank Dr. Hochman and his surgical team for providing Mom with great medical care that ensured she had time to achieve her final two goals of meeting her great-granddaughter and celebrating her 90th birthday. The family is also greatly appreciative of the care she received with her two long stays at the St. Boniface Hospital, in 7A West and 5B, where she and the family received unyielding kindness and support over the past two months. A celebration of Pat's life will be held July 4, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the First Unitarian Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road. Please come prepared with stories to share about Pat. Friends and relatives are encouraged to share in a photo-tribute, stories and condolences for the family by visiting Pat's memorial page at IntegrityDeathCare.com. In lieu of flowers, if friends wish, donations in Pat's memory can be made to the Manitoba P.E.O. Foundation Fund in care of the Winnipeg Foundation or the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.
