BALDEV SINGH CHAHAL Baldev Singh Chahal, 84, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, came to eternal rest following his battle with pancreatic cancer on July 5, 2017, with his family by his side. He was born to the late Madho Singh and late Jagir Kaur on July 14, 1932 in Ratwara, Punjab, India. Baldev is survived by his wife Hardev; three daughters, Jasminder, Sukhminder and Parminder; and two sons, Daljinder and Harjinder; sons-in-law, Gurmukh, Hardeep and Balwinder; and daughters-in-law, Ravinder and Gurkarndeesh. He is also survived by three brothers and 13 grandchildren. He was a disciplined hard working family man who has worked for over 20 years in the Indian Army. Following retirement, Baldev moved to Canada on June 10, 1992. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His many hobbies included doing housework and gardening. Our family is forever grateful to the dedicated staff including doctors, nurses and allied health at the St. Boniface Hospital, Health Sciences Centre, Seven Oaks Hospital and CancerCare Manitoba, who were involved in his care. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9 at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, followed by a prayer service at the Sikh Society of Manitoba, 1244 Mollard Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba or Canadian Cancer Society.
