MAY MEDD
Born: Dec 28, 1917
Date of Passing: Jul 06, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or Memory(GUDRUN LINA) MAY MEDD December 28, 1917 - July 6, 2017 With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our dearly loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on July 6, 2017. May Medd died peacefully at West Park Manor at the age of 99 years. Left to mourn are her children, Lorna, Ken (Carole), Kathy and Marnie (George), her grandchildren, David, Jennifer, Meghan, Emily and Charles, and her great-grandchildren, Eric, Lily, Jillian and Max. May's parents, Bjorg Violet (Hermanson) and Eric August Isfeld, moved to Winnipeg shortly after they were married in 1916. May was born in 1917 and was their only child. However, the household that May grew up in included several of her aunts and uncles, the younger siblings of her parents, who had moved into the city to live with Eric and Bjorg. May maintained very close relationships with all of them throughout her life. May graduated from United College in 1938, and in 1942 she received her RN from the Winnipeg General Hospital. While May was working as a surgical nurse at the General Hospital, she met Dallas Medd, who was working there as an intern. They were married in 1945 and May began focusing on raising her family. In the 1970s, she began her second career in adoptions at the Winnipeg Children's Aid Society. She greatly enjoyed her bridge club, a group of eight friends from her nursing days, who played regularly over a period of 40 years. May's other interests were largely family oriented. She was a loving mother who enjoyed family celebrations and holiday gatherings. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She also loved the time the family spent at their cottage near Winnipeg Beach. May and her family attended the First Lutheran Church, where her mother was organist and choir director for many years. May was very active in the congregation. If friends so desire, donations may be made in her memory to the First Lutheran Church, 580 Victor Street in Winnipeg, or to the charity of their choice. The funeral service will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery), on Wednesday, July 12, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Brookside Cemetery.
