Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER KNOCHEL On July 9, 2017, Walt rode off into the sunset in his sleep; a fitting ride for an Old West enthusiast. Walt was born in Germany November 26, 1947, and made Winnipeg his home in 1957. He was a person of many skills, hobbies and interests. He will be missed by the many people that he shared these with. He is survived by sister Erika, brother Gerhard and family, Elfriede and family, and brother Manfred and family. The immediate family plans a farewell scattering of ashes at one of his favourite places. Anyone who knew him well will fondly remember his down to earth nature and willingness to share his many exploits. I knew Walter from the Gun Shows I used to participate in. He was not only a customer, but we became over the years very close friends. He was a fabulous Machinist. An outgoing man with those whom he knew closely,... always with a story to tell. I spent many happy hours with Walter and will miss that unmistakeable smile. My condolences . I knew Walter from Red River College. I was the Baking Instructor. Last few years we shared a table at the Sonata Gun Show. Walter was one of the best of the best, always friendly and much to say. We shared common interests, hobbies and stories. Although I did not see him often I considered him a very close and dear friend who played an important part in my life. I will miss his presence but I know he is in a better place.
