Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOUIS HORVATH Peacefully on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 Louis Horvath passed away at the age of 88 years at the Arborg Personal Care Home. Louis was predeceased by his wife Gladys O'Neil, common-law partner Sophie Hurdal, sisters, Rose Helgason and Anne Pearson, stepson Clifford O'Neil, brothers-in-law, Arthur Finnson, Gunnar Helgason, Don Pearson and Stefan Stefanson, great-niece Jennalee Finnsson, great-nephew Ky Lamont, and nephew-in-law Glenn Jonasson. He is survived by his sisters, Mary Horvath and Margaret Finnson, brother Martin Horvath (Josie), niece Cathy Jonasson (Todd,) nephews, Doug Lamont (Naoko) and Glen Helgason, great-nephew Tem Terasaka, great-niece Aleah Jonasson, and his very special and loving friend Kathy Loewen, as well as many extended family members and many close friends. Louis was born May 16, 1929 and was raised in Geysir, Manitoba. He lived and worked on the family farm, also driving the milk truck and briefly tried his hand at fishing. Louis married Gladys O'Neil in 1969 and remained on the family farm until the 1980s. There were many festive gatherings held at the farm with family and friends, singing and dancing, playing guitar, the violin and the accordion into the wee hours of the morning. Music was very much apart of Louis' life. He moved to Riverton and managed the Riverton Motor Inn with his partner Sophie Hurdal. Louis and Sophie sold the family farm and the Riverton Motor Inn and moved to Arborg, Manitoba in 1998 where he resided until his passing. In his younger years, Louis travelled across North America and the Caribbean. He was an avid golfer, he enjoyed playing pool and curling. He cherished his time at the Riverton Motor Inn, making lifelong friends and entertaining his patrons with his many stories. He had a special way of making everyone feel welcome. The family expresses their gratitude to the many health care providers. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at the assisted living, Fisher Personal Care Home and especially the staff at the Arborg Personal Care Home for their amazing care and kindness. You are greatly appreciated. In keeping with Louis' wishes, cremation has taken place. An interment will take place later in August, 2017 at the Geysir Cemetery. Notice to follow at a later date.
